Messier Roundup

It's been a little over a year since I started observing things with my telescope, so I'm taking the time to count up the various Messier objects I've been able to see, and how many times I've tagged an Astro Log with that Messier object. This doesn't mean I've only seen that object that many times - I may not have tagged it, or just didn't bother writing something down.

From the list, I've found 60 total, assuming you count NGC 5866 as Messier 102. If not, then it's 59. Not bad for the first year at this latitude. The five most tagged objects are M31 (12), M32 (11), M81 (9), M82 (8), and M57 (5). I'm more than halfway there, and I've been getting better and finding the more difficult objects. There are some, though, that I'm going to have to try and get at much darker skies than my house, either because they're rather dim or because they're so far south on the horizon (looking at you, Scorpius and Sagittarius) that I can't get them through buildings, haze, and skyglow from here.

Hmph.

Going through and seeing which objects aren't on this list, I'm finding quite a few that I'm pretty damn sure I've seen. Still, the ones I'm pretty sure I've seen aren't difficult ones, so I'll just have to add them again when they come back around. There's a bunch of globulars & some open clusters I apparently forgot to note though.
